The Importance of Green Rating in Cars
Automobiles are one of the many contributors to the degradation of our environment. Since vehicles spend so much time on the road, car pollution which has enormous effects to the ecology usually happen while vehicles are on the run.
Nowadays, the ecology has become a big concern by many including all the leading manufacturers of various types of vehicles. It is also good to know that more and more car owners have become aware how their choice in cars could affect the environment. Because of this a green scale has been formulated to guide the conscientious owners of vehicles in considering their options and in selecting the type of car that they will be driving.
The Ecologically Friendly Scale
Green rating in vehicles is a way of measuring how environmentally friendly a particular vehicle is. The rating scale is from 1 to 100. The higher the score the better since it indicates that the vehicle poses a lesser threat to health of human beings, animals, plants, and the earth in general.
This rating scheme was been developed by Yahoo! Autos with due consultation to the leading nonprofit organization named Environmental Defense. This group aims to find practical ways of protecting the planet and exhausting all possible means to make our world a better place to live in.
The green rating encompasses all the foremost aspects of a motor vehicle that takes a toll on the ecology. First of these are the tailpipes that may produce unhealthy smog which are actually hazardous because they trigger asthma attacks and heightens the risk for lung and heart diseases. Second, the greenhouse gases emissions that are the root cause of global warming, and the pollution due to the manufacturing of the car components and of the vehicle in totality.
