Features of the Toyota Corolla

Since its introduction in 1966, the Corolla has become one of Toyota’s most well liked lines.  This line of compact cars by the Japanese vehicle manufacturer has established itself as one of the world’s top selling autos.  Actually, since 1997, the Corolla has been the world’s best selling nameplate, with over 35 million units sold since 1996 to 2007.  It is frequently said that for the past forty years, there is a Corolla car being sold somewhere in the world every forty seconds.  This acclaim has undergone a lot of redesigning and diverse generations of enhancements, as well as changes in the taste of buyers in the auto market.  The Corolla name is Latin for’small crown,’ which is supporter to Toyota’s practice of naming its flagship brands after the word’crown’ and differentiations of it.  Therefore, there have been brands ranging from Toyota Crown, Toyota Corona ( Latin for crown ), and Toyota Camry ( Anglicized transcription of the Japanese word for crown, kanmuri ).

Toyota Corollas have been made in all continents of the world - in Australia ( production has been ceased however ), in the East ( in Japan, China, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Pakistan, Philippines, Taiwan, Thailand, Turkey ), in South America ( in Brazil and Venezuela ), Africa ( in South Africa ), Northern America ( in Canada and the U.  S.  ), and Europe ( Derbyshire in the United Kingdom ).  {However ,} production of Corollas in the Toyota facility in Freemont, California is slated to stop by March 2010.  There have been 10 generations of Corollas manufactured, with the latest generation introduced in 2006.  The Corolla brand has been abandoned in Southeast Asian nations since the ninth generation, and that market has employed the brand Toyota Altis since.  In the united states, sales figures have been stable, still even reaching above 350,000 units sold in the country in 2008, despite a depression.  Figures peaked in 2006, when more than 380,000 Corollas were sold in America alone.
